DAVID MINERIC at age 18, 5'10, 156 lbs. David was the cover boy of our Vol 12 no 2 issue of Physique Pictorial and considerably more information of him appears in that issue. Shortly before we went to press with this current issue, David did two additional sittings with us. The first was with model John Keyes and is entitled "The HoldUp." The other with Dennis Lavia (see page 17 of this book) remains to be titled. Both will be released sometime in 1965 (or sooner if the demand is great enough). This is photo UX-1-U
David is a quiet, laconic young man, not given to much outward expression.
A cursory glance at him might gain the impression that he is sullen, arrogant and tough. Indeed he is tough enough to handle himself in almost any situation but he is also basically gentle, well-mannered. and considerate of others. Solo pictures of David Mineric are found on pages 2, & 3 of UX:

AN OPPORTUNITY FOR YOU TO STRIKE A BLOW AGAINST CENSORSHIP! Late years have seen wonderful progress in freedom of the press and expression, but let no one believe that Mrs. Grundy has taken all this lying down. Indeed, she is still doing everything in her power to destroy our basic American freedoms. She will use every means at her disposal no matter how foul to destroy each and every expression that does not meet with her own peculiar and distorted sense of morals.
At the end of 1963, Martin Bloch, a Times Square newsdealer in New York City, was arrested for selling a copy of a physique mogazine (as innocent in content as the one you are now reading) to young man of 17. The arrest was made under Section 484-h of the NY State Penal Code which reads in part: "A person..is guilty of a mis-
demeanor....who sells, lends, gives away.. to any person under the age of 18 years,...any pomographic..picture,...book..which exploits..or is principally made up of illicit, filthy, indecent or disgusting, or which consists of pictures of nude or partially de-nuded figures, posed or presented in a manner to provoke or arouse lust or passion or to exploit sex, lust, or perverson..."
Only a sorrowfully degenerated mind could put such an interpretation as this on the magazine in question. To be sure: there are many books on news stands which make no pretense that their aim is other than to cater to man's sensual desires, but the book we are dealing with here does not fall into that category.
Those who fail to see the important values (both physiological and psychological) in physique books may be unconcerned by this attack, Page 8
but if Mrs. Grundy is successful here her appetite will only be whetted for bigger game so that perhaps she can pursue and possibly eventualy realize her fondest dream: to destroy the US Constitution itself which she and her followers consider to be far too liberal and permissive.
If you want to help put Mrs. Grundy in her place, you can make a contribution of any amount: a dime, a dollar or whatever pleases you to "The Martin Bloch Defense Fund" co AMG 1834 West 11th St. Los Angeles 6, Califomia. In the unlikely event that this fund should be over-subscribed or if contributions should come in after the case is closed, then any such monies would be turned over to the American CIvil Liberties Union, earmarked for anti-censorship activities. You can be sure this is a battle that will never stop. Do you want to stand up and be counted, or would you rather throw in the sponge and give up by default?
SPARTACUS DRAWING BOOK AVAILABLE: 72 5x8 pages $1. (plus 30c postage if first class sealed mailing is desired.) This is the "Fizeek Art Quarterly" which featured all of the Spartacus work. The publisher sent us a supply so if you didn't get one when it was available on the news stand, you can still get one directly from AMG 1834 West 11th street Los Angeles 6, Califomia.
The magazine YOUNG ADONIS isn't ready to be buried yet, tho nothing has happened with it in a year. The YA publishers have all of the offset negatives and color separations made up for the next issue (an investment of about $5000.00) so eventually it is going to come out. Let's hope a few of us will still be around to enjoy it.
